Upcoming Philanthropy in Asia Summit

If you haven’t heard about the upcoming Philanthropy in Asia Summit, I urge you to check it out and get on the invite list! This will be the second event as the previous one occurred in 2012. The Summit is organized by NVPC (National Volunteer & Philanthropy Center), Community Foundation of Singapore and Global Philanthropy Forum. It will be held on Oct 21-22, 2014 in Singapore.

We believe the organizers have put a lot of thought into the program – from ‘what we wish to see’ to ‘what the issues are’ and ‘how to address them’. Centering on the theme “Philanthropy Unlimited”, the first day looks at the possibility of a barrier free philanthropic world: transparent, collaborative and innovative. The second day looks at diaspora philanthropy and four issues challenging Asia today: aging and dying, a polluted Asia, the business of human trafficking, and poverty from investment.

What is quite appealing about this event is that we get to hear from and meet new leaders in the sector. The PIA2014 will:

…mobilise the new wave of Asian philanthropic leadership that are impact-oriented, transparent and engaging, collaborative, and champions of philanthropic best practices.

Participation in PIA2014 is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please register your interest with PIA2014.

The Asian Philanthropy Forum will be covering the event this year. So even if you cannot make it to the event, we will keep you informed!
